About Shivrael
I am taking clients at this time and it is best to schedule ahead, usually in the afternooon.
Thai Bodywork, also called Thai Yoga Therapy, can help heal the body, but more importantly it can bring the body and emotions back into balance before disease or discomfort ever shows up. Relaxing and relieving stress, helping the body’s energy flow better, all lead to greater well-being and ultimately are preventative medicine. I see Thai Massage as something to increase your "body feel good" and have less pain. My work directly addresses whatever is going on for you.
My style is tailored to the person who is receiving and how they are feeling at the time when I see them. It may include deep pressure to unblock energy, or it can be more subtle and soft depending on the needs of the person, their Ayurvedic constitution, and their personal preference. Different segments of the session include different types of touch. The opening moves on the feet are with firm pressure, then work is done on the legs, the rest of the body, and finally arriving at the head and face. Face work is very gentle and it is a good way to end a session, bringing everything into a relaxing feeling of integration and completion. My intention as a bodyworker is to assist in healing, and to help you discover a relaxed state of being within yourself.
Shivrael originally trained in Polarity Therapy and Cranial Sacral work starting in 1988, and then later became certified in Thai Bodywork. Thai Bodywork is a sort of meditative practice, a movement practice, and a healing practice. It is my highest joy to share Thai Bodywork.
I am have won the Best of Mt.Shasta for Bodywork award for five years, the latest in 2021.
I am grateful to my teacher, Ariela Grodner, who teaches widely and certified me as a practitioner. She comes from the lineage of Kam Thye Chow and other Thai Massage teachers from the Sunshine Network in Thailand. Thai Bodywork goes back to the time of Buddha, and there is an ancient healing art that was practiced in temples. Ariela travels to Southern India to a small ashram so she can teach young monks how to do Thai Massage. The monks share with impoverished people in their community as a free service, and as a spiritual practice. Ariela's practice is giving by teaching and practicing Thai Massage and Yoga, and I am honored to have been among those she has passed on this old and beautiful tradition of healing from such a wonderful teacher and person. She is the author of several books on Thai Massage and teaches internationally.
I became interested in Thai Bodywork as one of other forms of alternative healing that I have studied along the way. I am an eclectic yoga practitioner and love dance. I have taught Thai Bodywork for Dance New England, a beloved dance community on the East Coast. I have taught Thai Bodywork workshops in Mt.Shasta and have offered bodywork at the Peace Village Festival in Ashland. I love to learn new things and forms of healing, from midwifery to herbs to homeopathy. I am from the Cambridge, Massachusetts area and have also lived in Maine before moving here. In July of 2014 I felt a spiritual calling to be in the mountain town and vortex of Mt.Shasta and have lived here ever since. In 2020, I traveled to Thailand to fulfill a dream that was on my bucket list which was to study Thai Massage in Thailand. I went to a small indigenous village in the north where I did 12 full days of training with other practitioners. Studying in Thailand was a blast and it gave me new tools to help people with the pain in their body. The Sunshine Network was the place that I studied and they provide an amazing healing foundation that has added to what I do.
Thai Bodywork is the perfect complement to yoga, as it takes yoga further, making the body even more flexible and open. Thai Bodywork benefits everyone though - you don’t have to be flexible to enjoy a session! You really don't have to do anything, just show up and be willing to receive. I really enjoy doing hands on healing and energy work. I am an energy sensitive person so my skills are supportive to energy sensitive people. I am also an akashic reader bringing a heightened intuitive sense. Thai Bodywork is the perfect fit, and I love sharing it. Thai Bodywork like yoga, makes one more self-aware, while you notice breath and body from inside of you. Receiving Thai Bodywork helps one discover how the body is really made of energy as much as it is made of physical matter. It takes us to a place of stillness and knowing, connecting with source within. Thai Bodywork also takes us from a mind space to the heart space, where we connect with who we are.

Testimony from a Pregnant Woman at her Due Date:
My friend Shivrael came and gave me a full Thai Massage this afternoon after hearing I was painfully immobilized due to shifting bones and body structure. Imagine having done the splits although never having done it before, an injury that never actually occurred but whose aftermath I've felt increasing for five months. she stretched me out, focused on reflexology pressure points, opened energy meridians and chakras. by the time she was done, i was able to move, sit up, stand up and walk with my old standard range of motion. I'm so excited that i hardly notice my being slightly overdue in the baby department, now that i am comfortable, My baby can stay as long as she pleases (within reasonable timeframe) and enjoy her trip through in-utero hyperspace. ~Karen (now a mother of a healthy baby girl!)
