What is Thai Bodywork?
You can watch me doing Thai Massage in my new video above which will give you a sense of it.
Thai Bodywork, also called Thai Yoga Massage or Thai Yoga Therapy. is a traditional healing method from Thailand and India that involves pressure point massage along sen lines (similar to meridian lines in the Chinese medical system) and stretching techniques similar to yoga. Yet the stretching is done for you, and has been called Lazy Man's Yoga. The practice of Thai Bodywork is a flowing dance, and a synthesis of various disciplines. Combine the practice of meditation that is moving with mindfulness, compassionate loving kindness (metta) with improvisational bodywork based on a form and a sequence. It feels similar to shiatsu or acupressure massage which opens the body through the meridian lines, but adds stretching of the body in which you are a passive recipient.
Thai Bodywork began 2,500 years ago and has been passed down through Buddhists, and is based on Ayurvedic medicine. The session takes place while you lie on a pad that is on the floor, while fully dressed in comfortable clothing like what you would wear to yoga class. The practitioner uses hands, feet, knees, elbows and forearms for an extensive session, applying pressure, stretching and awakening the body. Thai Bodywork opens up the energy flow of the body while relaxing you
Experiencing Thai Bodywork can benefit your body, mind, and spirit.
~Deep relaxation, beginning with the feet and legs which open the flow of energy in the body
~The ending, on the hands and face, feels divine.
~Releases tension in the body and create balance and harmony.
~Releases stress in life
~Increases flexibility and range of motion.
~Assists alignment and posture.
~Energy flows better which increases emotional & physical well-being.
~Great for people who do yoga as it helps stretch places you can’t get to in your practice.
~Great if you are not flexible, because it encourages joint opening in a way that feels wonderful to you!
~Promotes inner peace & a quiet mind.
~A person who is relaxed, open to growth & new experience, will benefit the most.
